If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late (Secret Series) Overview
Beware!
Dangerous secrets lie between the pages of this book.
OK, I warned you. But if you think I’ll give anything away, or tell you that this is the sequel to my first literary endeavor, The Name of This Book is Secret, you’re wrong.
I’m not going to remind you of how we last left our heroes, Cass and Max-Ernest, as they awaited intiation into the mysterious Terces Society, or the ongoing fight against the evil Dr. L and Ms. Mauvais. I certainly won’t be telling you about how the kids stumble upon the Museum of Magic, where they finally meet the amazing Pietro!
Oh, blast! I’ve done it again. Well, at least I didn’t tell you about the missing Sound Prism, the nefarious Lord Pharaoh, or the mysterious creature born in a bottle over 500 years ago, the key to the biggest secret of all.
I really can’t help myself, now can I? Let’s face it—if you’re reading this, it’s too late.
If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late (Secret Series) Review
This is the second book in the Secret Series by Pseudonymous Bosch. This book continues with Cassandra and Max-Ernest as the main characters. In this book Cassandra and Max-Ernest discovered the Midnight Sun. The Midnight Sun is a spa for the forces of evil. Cassandra and Max-Ernest meet Dr. L and Mrs. Mauvais and then the couple invites both Cass and Max-Ernest to dinner. When the kids leave the Mauvais house, Dr. L and his wife start getting suspicious about why Cass and Max-Ernest came to the Midnight Sun. Later on in the story Cassandra goes back to the Midnight Sun to try and figure out what Dr. L and his wife are secretly doing. Max-Ernest and Cassandra find a map to the secret but they never actually find the secret in this book. Dr. L and Mrs. Mauvais try to get the map from Cassandra and Max-Ernest, but they don’t succeed. You are left wondering what is going to happen in the next book.
I really like the writing style of Pseudonymous Bosch. It is very unusual and creative. For example, in this book the chapters go backwards instead of forwards. He does a lot of other fun things with his writing. I would recommend this book to readers that have a good sense of humor and enjoy mysteries and secrets.

Everything Kids’ Sharks Book: Dive Into Fun-infested Waters! (Everything Kids Series) Review
My 7 year old son has been a shark fanatic for as long as he’s known about them. He has put together quite an extensive collection of books and other shark treasures, this book has become one of his favorites. Since the day he received it, it has been sitting on his nightstand, within close reach. I see him reading and looking through this book more than any of the others that he has on sharks. He loves to come up with another ‘hey did you know’ fact to share, that he has learned from this book. Unlike some others that remain in near pristine condition; this one is dog eared, bent and shows all signs of being a loved book.
Inside you will find many fast facts, puzzles, mazes, riddles and the like mixed with a treasury of information about the beloved shark as a species. This has been a great book for both long and short reads, as you don’t have to sit and do the cover to cover traditional read that sometimes becomes daunting to the younger bunch. Each chapter/section is somewhat short yet chock full of great child friendly illustrations, shark and habitat facts and short games/puzzles.
If you have a shark fan or a child interested in learning a bit about different undersea critters, this may be a good choice for you. I know there are tons of shark books out there to choose from but if you talk to my 7yr old son, he would tell you that this is one of the best!!

The Ersatz Elevator (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 6) Overview
Dear Reader,
If you have just picked up this particular book, then it is not too late to put it back down. Like the previous books in A Series of Unfortunate Events, there is nothing to be found in these pages but misery, despair, and discomfort, and you still have time to choose something else to read.
Within the chapters of this story, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway, and parsley soda.
I have sworn to write down these tales of the Baudelaire orphans so the general public will know each terrible thing that has happened to them, but if you decide to read something else instead, you will save yourself from a heapful of horror and woe.
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket
The Ersatz Elevator (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 6) Review
This story starts with Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire walking into the apartment at 667 Dark Avenue and up 84 or 48 flights of stairs to the penthouse (it has 71 bedrooms) where Jerome and Esme Squalor live. Apparently this place actually cares about what’s in and out. Orphans, stairs and pinstripe suits are in and elevators, tools, and books that don’t talk about what is in and out are out. They enter a mixed up world with good and bad things. They find some interesting things like who Esme Squalor really is. They even go down the elevator shaft and find the Quagmires. They encounter Olaf again and he escapes right at their fingertips. He’s also still trying to steal the fortune their parents left when they died in the fire. This next must-read is full of adventure and action. Lemony Snicket definitely wrote another good book and they keep getting better every time.

I gave my friend’s daughter this book for her 10th birthday. She is very out-doorsy and this book seemed perfect for her. As I looked at it prior to giving it to her, I thought some of the things seemed a bit young for her but I think she will still enjoy it.

Miss Match (Lauren Holbrook Series, Book 1) Review
This book is the author’s first published work. There were a few problems with it but I still thought it was a great effort for a young, new author.
The bad – The time line was a little shaky and that became distracting. There was way too much caffeine and chocolate in the story, I started getting a little queasy about a third of the way through from the constant references. The use of terms of endearment, Baby, Dear, etc. got a little old because they were overused. There was a lot of biblical references without explanation and the biblical theme of the book, sovereignty and predestination didn’t get as fully developed as they could have.
The good – The main character is laugh-out-loud funny. She has a very young persona, despite being 23 years old. Sometimes that was a bit confusing and it could have been better developed, but it was on purpose since it was part of the story. Lauren reminded me of Eloise from Eloise at the Plaza. She was funny and interesting and I am looking forward to finding out what happens next.
This author has a great sense of humor and it shined through. I enjoyed her main character Lauren and look forward to reading more of the series.
