I would classify this as “kids stuff for adults”. We spotted this, and gave four books from this series as gifts. All were well received. One was to our 15 year old son with a love of art and craft, the second to a 40 year old Graduate Art Student. The other two went to adults who also report liking them a lot. I would not be comfortable setting most children under the age of about 8 loose alone with this book because of its fragility, but I’d enjoy going through it with any child.
I didn’t find it as well assembled as it might be, but for a [...] book that appears quite labor intensive to assemble, I found it nicely done and acceptable.
I loved the artistic aspect of it – there were a lot of different ideas expressed.
Following the amazing success of One Red Dot and Blue 2, David Carter has done it again! He’s back with 600 Black Spots, his most clever scavenger hunt pop-up yet. Readers can spend countless hours of fun searching for the black spots throughout the pages–but be careful! Tricks and surprises abound in this endlessly entertaining, keep-you-on-the-spot book!

Bruce Wayne (a.k.a. Batman) was attending a party at the Gotham City Museum when suddenly one of the dragon statues came to life threatening the safety of the city of Gotham. Bruce Wayne quickly went back to his house and transformed into Batman to try and stop the dragon, but the dragon was too strong for him so he needed to enlist the help of some Super Hero friends.
Cayden: “I liked when the dragon came to life and when Batman went to get his Batmobile! We have a Batmobile toy like that! Superman and Wonder Woman came to help Batman. I liked that they were all in the same story. This was a good book. I can read a lot of the words in it too!”
Parent’s comments:
“Batman- Meet the Super Heroes” is a Level 2 book in the “I Can Read!” series of books which is basically geared toward children who can read with a little help. My son was excited to recognize many familiar words and read parts of the story on his own. The plot was fast-paced and exciting. This book definitely makes reading fun for a little boy!
When an evil dragon attacks Gotham City, Batman knows he can’t stop it by himself. With Superman and Wonder Woman fighting by his side, there is nothing these three Super Heroes can’t do!

The book is brilliant in the design, as it seemed sure to be since the engineering is by Matthew Reinhart, but the pages appear drab because of the muddy colors with which they are printed and the dull paper stock used. Before writing this review, I considered the possibility that the color choices were made to give the book an antique look or for some other artistic reason. Finally, I decided that if that was the objective, it failed. The mechanics on each page are phenomenal, the little side pop-ups are delightful, the illustrations are appropriately cute, but the book, overall, misses the mark. I’m happy to have a signed copy in my collection because Mr. Reinhart is a true genius, and just maybe the Chinese manufacturer is at fault here!
A Pop-Up Book of Nursery Rhymes – Jannis Hoobin – rural Iowa
Intricate pop-ups illustrate well-known nursery rhymes. It is a pleasure to read this book for the young or for the older, more sophisticated collector/reader. The engineering of these pop-ups is truly amazing.
