Our toddler absolutely loves this book. She is obsessed with dogs, so this is one of her favorites. She (nor I) have seen the original version and this suits our purposes just fine. It’s compact, durable, and has lots of doggie pictures. She giggles and claps when we get to the Dog Party page. When she’s older, we’ll definitely get the full version of this book. But for a 15-month-old, this version is perfect.

Big Board First 100 Machines (Bright Baby) Review
My son is almost 2 years old; I got this for him for Christmas and he loves it.
He loves to point at the machines and let us tell him what it is. Then we also reverse it; we ask him to locate the motorcycle, bus, etc.
It has pictures of just about every machine you see.
I think this says it’s for ages 4-8; I’d say that’s wrong and younger kids will like it. I would think older kids would want a story line, and there is no story.

Great Day for Up! (Bright & Early Books(R)) Review
Dr. Suess’s scansion and made-up words annoy me. My tri-lingual children have a hard enough time differentiating and isolating Standard English words, so I generally avoid Suess.
The volume is a rare welcome exception (there are a few Suessisms) and is an excellent book for first readers.
The story is plain, with the major intention of teaching your child to *read* his or her first words in English (in this case the word is “up”).
But Quentin Blake’s illustrations are superb and worth the price of the volume alone.
The conclusion is a bit silly, and has a rather lazy aspect to it that parents need to guide their children on (no, it isn’t okay to sleep in bed all day like the boy in the story, this is just a silly book”), but mostly this is unobjectionable.

Please Do Not Open this Book! (Bright & Early Playtime Books) Review
At bedtime my sons would beg me to read “the monster at the end of this book” to them. When my oldest (now 26) was home with my 3 y/o grandson I searched their closet over but could not find their copy. In the week they were here I ordered and received the book from Amazon, and the begging started from my grandson. By the time they had to go home he was reciting it as I read just like his Dad and Uncle did. Thank you Amazon for making more memories. PM in KY

i was surprised to find out my baby liked this book. I thought the brown and muted colors would be a turn-off but baby enjoys it. I bought it when my son was a baby and not as a toddler he still enjoys it.

The Eye Book (Bright & Early Books(R)) Review
This is one of Dr. Seuss’s best for very young children. It is fun to read, and will surely make you giggle, especially when you see the pink underpants! The pictures are cute and we always pause to talk about them. There are few words and soon your toddler will have them memorized, and be reading along with you. The kids and I highly recommend this book.
We also recommend “Jamberry” by Bruce Degen and “There’s a Wocket in my Pocket” by Dr. Seuss.s
