Train (Ultimate Sticker Books) Review
The pictures are great and the wording is easy and accurate. My son just turned 3 and he enjoys it but we both would have liked more detailed explanations of how the trains work and what the different parts are called. Overall, a good choice for little train-lovers just starting out.

This was a nice book to read. It fit in nicely after we have been listening to Lori Lite’s Bedtime Stories CD, like this 3 CD set: Indigo Dreams (3 CD Set): Children’s Bedtime Stories Designed to Decrease Stress, Anger and Anxiety while Increasing Self-Esteem and Self-Awareness
Giving my boys with Aspergers Syndrome an actual picture seems to help aid their visualization while listening to the CD. This book allows me to be interactive about affirmations at any time of the day, while the CD is fantastic for bedtime relaxation.

Wordly Wise 3000 Grade 2 Student Book – 2nd Edition Review
I bought this workbook for my precocious 9-year old, and she jumped right into the first chapter and enjoyed it immensely. Each chapter begins with a list of about 20 vocabulary words, which are defined. Several forms of the word are offered as well as different meanings.
Then the student is asked to perform various multiple choice and sentence completion activities using the words in context. Finally a passage using the words is introduced, after which the student is asked to answer questions that require an understanding of the vocabulary words and the passage.
This book is just the right level for my fourh-grader, but is probably intended for use in grades 5-6.
My only criticism is that not all definitions are given for a vocabulary word. For example, the word “pedestrian” is defined as a noun, but the meaning of the adjective is not provided. Perhaps the author felt this was too advanced for the level, but I disagree.
All-in-all, this is an effective tool for building your child’s vocabulary. It’s certainly enjoyable for those children who love to learn new words.

Animal Hide-And-Seek (Touchy Feely Flap Book) Review
This book blew me away, the flaps are a stiff cardboard, there are many, many textural components and the pages are very thick. There are only 5 open pages (the illustrations cover 2 pages). Each one contains adorable illustrations of a dog, cow, hens, etc. It is super-cute and durable and I know it’s unlikely for this to be torn by my 17 mth old. I, as someone who has used packaging tape to secure flaps from being torn off, HIGHLY recommend this as a fun book truly designed for toddlers or younger!
Animal Hide-And-Seek (Touchy Feely Flap Book) Overview
In a large format with flaps as well as textured patches, this book introduces the characters from Apple Tree Farm to young children. The use of textures adds a different dimension to sharing books with babies and toddlers. As each page is turned, a different texture is waiting to be discovered.

The World of Dick and Jane and Friends (Treasury) Review
This is a terrific book for the beginning reader. My daughter is 5 years old in pre-K. She started reading _Dick and Jane and Friends_. She did so well, I wanted to reinforce it with another Dick and Jane book.
Like _Dick and Jane and Friends_, _The World of Dick and Jane and Friends_ is a collection of three different Dick and Jane readers. _The World of Dick and Jane and Friends_ starts off very simply but progresses more quickly than _Dick and Jane and Friends_. As a book that relies more on word recognition than phonics, that can a little difficult for a new reader. It would be best for a very beginning reader to start with the last reader in that book “The New We Look and See.” I think the editors should have placed that reader first in the book (like “We Look and See” was first in _Dick and Jane and Friends_).
The stories of “We Look and See” from _Dick and Jane and Friends_ and “The New We Look and See” in _The World of Dick and Jane and Friends_ are different but the reading difficulties are the same. The same is true of “We Come and Go” from _Dick and Jane and Friends_.
I highly recommend this book for beginning readers. If you have a very beginning reader, try _Dick and Jane and Friends_ simply because of the order of the readers within the book. Not like you can’t skip around _The World of Dick and Jane and Friends_, but my daughter liked to see herself complete the book, reading it beginning to end.

Owl at Home (I Can Read Book 2) Review
In my opinion its hard to grow up in the 80’s and not know “Frog and Toad” it was so popular when I was a kid I don’t know anyone that didn’t read it and with that I had the name Arnold Lobel branded in my mind since. So when I saw this I had to give it a try. “Owl at home” is made up of a handful of little short stories which i find really useful at bedtime cause I can zip through them quickly yet they don’t feel rushed and yet amazingly evoke alot of thought and questions afterward. My daughter is the type to pull out 15 books at bedtime so these are a great way to wrap up the night or read something light. “Tear water tea” is my favorite (I find it to be incredibly creative yet true to what you imagine little minds would find sad) cause the images he uses to make himself sad (in order to cry and collect enough tears in a pot for tea) are so cute like spoons that fell behind the stove and are to never be seen again and mornings nobody saw cause they were too busy sleeping! I just love it love it love it I couldn’t recommend a beginner book more!

Just Me and My Dad (Look-Look) Review
In this story, Little Critter goes on a camping trip with his father, leaving his mother and baby sister at home. The story is narrated from Little Critter’s perspective, and his statements contradict the illustrations with a gentle irony that young children will appreciate. For example, he says, “My dad was tired, so I pitched the tent,” and the facing picture shows Dad rescuing him from a disordered pile of fabric and tent poles. The story could be a perfect preparation for a real camping trip, but is worthwhile to read for its own sake; the father is kind and loving, and the scene is very secure. This is a gread story about a dad having fun with his son, giving him an exciting experience and teaching him new skills.
Just Me and My Dad (Look-Look) Overview
This well-loved Little Critter picture book has become a modern classic. It’s the tale of a father-and-son camping trip filled with Little Critter’s mistakes and good intentions. In spite of difficulties, however, the happy father and son manage to put up their tent, catch fish for dinner, and sleep beneath the stars. In spite of minimal text, the story is full and rich, with endearing illustrations from start to finish.
